Kick some city off your boots... and come fishing with the Pages...

Alder Creek Ranch is not your regular dude ranch with a dandy guest lodge and heated swimming pool or live entertainment in the lounge.  Nope... not at all.  You're gonna have to kick some of the city off your boots.

Pioneer Outfitter is a for-sure, full-time outfitter not concerned with the fancy stuff.  They just concentrate on getting you into some excellent fishing and hopefully have a little fun while they're at it.  Course, they expect some cooperation from the fish, too.

Cliff and Chuck's specialty is float fishing the Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers on day trips or by the week.  And, they also feature day trips or overnight trips with horses into the high country for alpine lake fishing or just to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Another thing you can bet on... they use only the best boats and equipment that can be found.  Also, both are good hands at telling tales and throwing in advice for free.

No brag... just fact...

The Big Hole River is one of Montana's finest blue ribbon streams which offers unsurpassed scenery and fishing.  It is possible to catch Cutthroat, Brookies, Browns, Rainbows and native Grayling, while fishing the Big Hole.  It's the only river in the lower 48 where you can do this.  Mid-June brings the famous salmon fly hatch on the Big Hole.  The hatch lasts about two weeks and the action can be spectacular.

The Beaverhead River is also a blue ribbon stream which offers its own unique style of top quality fishing.  This smooth running river contains the largest population of trophy fish per mile of all the Montana streams.

These rivers have excellent fly hatches starting in mid-May and running through September.  The Caddis and Mayfly hatches can be amazing at times.

Early American rustic...

Pioneer Outfitter can put you up at the ranch in an informal guest-of-the-family atmosphere.  Their place is rustic, but comfortable... an early American rustic log cabin.  Carolyn will see that you are well fed with breakfast and dinner, family style.  Lunches are served stream side.  If you desire more formal accommodations, they will be happy to help you locate convenient lodging in the area.

And, one more thing... never bet on the weather in Montana.  You should come prepared for weather extremes ranging between 40 and 80 degrees.

Gettin' high...

Their high country pack trips are into the remote roadless areas of the Pioneer Mountains, located in southwestern Montana.  These areas have spectacular scenery for the camera enthusiast, and offer unique opportunities to get closer to friends and family, study nature, mountain climb, or just relax.

The fishing can be superb for Grayling, Cutthroat, Brookies and Rainbow.  Like most high mountain lake fishing, however, the fish can get a little temperamental at times.

Their string of mountain horses are gentle and trail wise.  Riding experience is not necessary to enjoy this wilderness experience.

Whatever you prefer, they're right in the middle of some of the most breathtaking country there is.  Let them arrange a vacation you'll remember forever.
